The works in Linear Portraits are life size paintings of a figure done on a two-dimensional surface that was created by stretching fishing line across a wooden frame. After the representational painting was completed the lines were stretched between the wall and the floor following their original order. The works are sculptures; their three-dimensional shape relates physically and conceptually to the two-dimensional painting that is their material. In order of appearance, Contrapposto explores classical composition, Reclined Figure is based on the painting La maja desnuda(1797-1800) by Francisco Goya, and The Nightmare is based on the painting The Nightmare (1781) by Henry Fuseli.
