Oil on canvas
2014 Second Cup, World Exchange Plaza (Ottawa, ON)
These still life paintings were made from pictures taken at an Ikea showroom. The goal is to translate the pleasing aesthetic of the object arrangements into paintings. In this way the viewers are presented with a familiar sense of harmony from the arrangements, but the objects depicted still carry their tags, reminding them that everything they see is for sale. The intentions are to analyze how our sense of beauty is fabricated by what we see in our day to day life and to think about how it can be purchased as part of our kitchen set.
